I was feeding my rays, and one piece around the size of your pointing finger got sucked up by my FX5 intake. I was wondering if this will cause any danger to my rays? Or will the raw shrimp eventually be food to the BB in the media of the FX5 and disappear?

Thanks!

Any takers?

You didn't have the plastic "screen" that comes with an FX5 on the intake? Just make sure it didn't clog the intake hose!

I never use any plastic screen on my intakes. I don't think it cloged the hose because the filter is still running. But over time, it should just disappear and become food to my BB right?

Yeah, technically it will just rot in your FX5.

Alright I thought so...if that is the case then I'll just let it rot and feed my BB. I usually clean all my filters once at least in a 3 month period (but not all at once).

Thanks guys!

Since you have rays, your bio load must be massive to begin with.....you should have an abundant amount of BB to handle the bio load. Your BB will take care of the rotten shrimp..

Now if you have a tank of guppies, it may be a different story, but you won't be putting any shrimp to begin with ;)

If anything really big goes into my filters I usually just clean the filter on the next WC because extra rot equals extra nitrates.
Agreed:)
