keep it varied. fish fillets such as catfish, tilapia are fine. frozen shrimp is good too, and wean them on pellets early on. pellets offer balanced nutrition and are dirt cheap.

if you want them to get big fast, stick with a healthy diet of shrimp, tilapia, catfish, and good quality pellets. it is also very important to have excellent water quality, so overfiltration is a must and water changes must be performed religiously. if you provide a healthy diet and pristine water conditions, your natts should easily reach the 6-8 inch mark within a year.

neither... you can get it from your local grocery store. all foods, including fish, should be non-live and uncooked.

ok so the catfish is sold at petsmart or petco

nope, you need to go to the grocery store.

Cut it in to squares (size varies with your fish size) and put them into a zip lock bag. You will need to make sure you don't stack the pieces to high, or you will not be able to break off a piece to feed the fish.

I like to place the bag into a freezer container, to help prevent freezer burn.

Once you are ready to feed, you will need to break off a piece. There are a few things you can do next.

Some people will use a dixie cup with some water from the tank and let the frozen fish thaw. Some will use a microwave, but be very very very sure you have it set to defrost. Did I say be sure of the microwave settings??

I find my rpb's like it frozen. I have thawed the fish a few diffferent ways, but I always have to remove it because mine only eat it frozen. I guess they like the crunch (like pellets??)

Always remove what they didn't eat after 3-5 minutes.

Hope this helps

i fed mine mostly shrimp 3x times a day when they were small.. now since they hit the 3-4 inch mark i slowed to 1x a day with either pellets or shrimp..

once in a while i fed them worms, sunfish/crappie/perch filets, beef, and crappie minnows.

i also found that they like omega one goldfish pellets.. they would eat until their stomachs look like they were about to explode..
