what is the diet for your pike cichlids?
my new pike seen not like pellets.
the lfs feed feeder fish before i purchase, the say can feed on pellet.
however, i din see my pike take the pellet.

pls advise

The first step is to get them to eat frozen food like frozen blood worms, fish fillet pieces, shrimp. Once the pike knows that you provide food, the next step is to feed soft pellets. You can soften the pellets with the juices of the frozen food to get them used to seeing the pellets as food.

Pellet training is hard if there is no competition in the tank to tell them the pellets are food.

Pikes can easily go 3 weeks without eating.

It's best to leave the room sometimes, and come back later to see if the food is gone. Some fish won't eat in front of you at first.

Breaking a pike onto pellets from feeders or from the wild can be tough. I have about a 50% success rate. Once they start eating the pellets, they never look back and love them though :) There are a wide variety of cichlid pellets available that they thrive on. Mix in some frozen food or chucks of fish/shrimp as a treat.

I'll let someone that is better at transitioning fish to pellets give you advice on that!

Thanks you for the comment....by the way, can u share with me how to mix the shrimp with pellet for them??

One thing to try that helps a lot is moving the pellets a bit. If the pike isn't scared of you, you can take a piece of wire or tweezers and wiggle the pellets around. This is really effective for visual feeders transitioning from live food to frozen or pellets.
Frozen krill is a very good option for pikes. Like mentioned before, competition is also very useful for getting them to eat. If they see another fish eating the pellets, they'll go after them too.

I mix my pellets in with frozen krill. Then every other day they get just pellets. Eventually I stop giving krill and they stick with the pellets. It's worked pretty good so far.

You can try a frozen silver side on a piece of fishing line if you use them you may have poke it with a pin until you pierce the swim bladder for it to sink
