Im trying to decide what type of tank I want to build.

Ive gone from discus to arowana to gar and now rays.

The footprint is 56'' x 38''

Would that be large enough for any adult stingrays? If not, how long would it last them until I have to upgrade?

Thanks

Not to sure as newish myself but i would say, for say a motoro, it would be ok for maybe 2 years max from a pup thats is.

But then can you have the space for a bigger tank , and how many would you want?

What type of rays you after mate.

Whilst many will tell you that you need more, that will be fine.

You will need good filtration and excellent husbandry...keep an eye on the nitrate and be religious with your water changes.

Hi wayne. In about 2 years I would have finished school and moved on to bigger and better things. So I could keep a couple of motoros?

Now for the filtration...Im completely new to rays...So is there a specific type that is better for them? I've looked on craigslist and found an fx5 for $150 that I could get. But would a wet/dry be better? I've yet to figure out the height..So no word on the volume of water.

If you are at college, will this be in a bed room? Fx5 will hum like you would not believe, they are very loud if you want ti try and sleep next to one.

A sump will gurgle all night long.

In my opinion you need more than one filter so that if you clean one e other is left undisturbed.

The fx5 should be fine. Will you be able to do large weekly water changes?

Im actually a sophomore in highschool.

Im homeschooled so I have a lot of spare time on my hands...

It would be in a room with a tv...So I dont think a big humming noise would please my parents :grinno:

depends on your preferences... a sump will allow a much larger amount of customization... especially if you build yourself, but also more work to setup then an fx5..

Which would cost more? Sump or fx5?
