thinking about upgrading to a 37 gallon which is 30"x12"x22". the tank would be heavily planted to help provide oxygen. i would like something like what's below. how many more fish could i add after stocking with these?
~13 emperor tetras
2 banjo cats (the ones that max out at about 5")
4 black khuli loaches
6-8 glass catfish
6-8 marbled hatchet fish

If you're going to upgrade, is there any reason you can't go bigger than 37?

Barring a QT or hospital or something along those lines, I don't think I'll ever set up a tank smaller than 55 again.

The bigger the tank (within reason), the easier this hobby is.

it will replace the 29 i have now. and being a college student in the position im in at the moment it cant take up any more space horizontally than the tank iv already got. i built the stand the 29 is sitting on, it's designed for a tank of that size footprint (20 long was actually the original idea) so i can only go taller... sad face, i know. so... i agree with you, but i have to be practical and work with what iv got for right now. im eagerly looking forward to the day when i can upgrade to a multi-hundred gallon tank.
