I finally bought my 90 gallon tank + stand and I'll be setting it up pretty soon (within the next week or so) but anyway I was wondering about filtering it. I already have a XP2 and it came with 2 AC110's.

I was thinking of just using the XP2 for bio only, like fill it up with the ceramic rings and maybe a filter pad on the bottom so they don't get clogged as fast. Or will a prefilter on the intake make it possible to just fill the entire canister with bio media?

Then I would use the 2 110's with 3 foam inserts in each for mechanical only.

Good idea? Other ways of setting it up?

All suggestions are welcomed :D

Thanks,
Brian

Stock dependent , But I would have a good pre filter and bio in the xp2 maybe a little more than your plan to keep the bio media from clogging even a sponge isnt enough sometimes with bypass and all. I would also run the ac 110's as recommended unless your stocking very lightly.

Could you elaberate more please? I don't think I fully understand what you're saying.

woah thats alot for a 90 gallon if its 48 inch wide thats just enough for the oscar alone the pleco and dollars will outgrow that tank also u might wana try a smaller cichlid and some smaller dither fish

I'm aware the Pleco will out grow the tank. As for the Silver Dollars out growing it? Correct me if I'm wrong someone but they only grow to be 6'' from what I've personally seen and read about.

i have a 90 also at first i had 2 xp2s on it but got tired of cleaning both of them went and got 1 fx5 and called it a day SO THATS MY IDEA

Thank you for your imput :D I don't mind doing matainance on my tank/filters and I also sleep easier knowing I have more then 1 filter running just incase one kicks out and I'm not around to fix it.

As for your FX5, how do you have it set up? (pics maybe?) and how well does it work? Also what's in your tank?

Thanks,
Brian
