For absolutely no reason

RIP to my pinima. I raised him since feb 2013 from 4" till his random early death at 18"

He was my FAVORITE cichla and the ONLY cichla i grew out.

Water params were completely fine. All other fish completely fine. Diet has not changed from massivore since he was 4"

The one thing i did was clean the glass....maybe stress?

What sucks the most is i watched him die rather than coming home and seeing him dead. As he was dying, he was swaying his head back and forth opening and closing his mouth stretching it out, darting around (upside down) any ideas?

I had 1 get fungus bad out of nowhere and he started to go upside down and died my plecos ate holes in it

How did you clean the glass ? Sounds like you could have some kind of chemical on your hands / or whatever you cleaned the glass with.
 
He was healthy AF this morn, in fact smashing massivore just yesterday!

I know this is wrong for me to say but i wish it was any other fish. In a honesty i wouldnt care if it was a couple others of my cichla. HE was the reason i built my 1000gl tank, for HIM!!

I used an apparatus that i made and used a hundred other times. And i had clean hands. Even if i had anything on my hands, wouldnt all fish be dying/suffering?

I wish that when my L-600 died. I had to get a new one.
 
Sorry for your loss. Could have just got spooked and hit a side of your tank. Was a nice fish :(
