Nice indeed!! Very very nice!! Beautiful female!! Can't wait to see pictures of her in the tank!! Get some of the male soon too! Very nice!! :D I can't see her dorsal to well, but is there white in it? Thats one of the distiguishin traits of females. Congrats on the great pick up! Suck around here...never can get any kewl fish...:(...unless I order them...:(

Thanks, guys.

I'm looking to import from Oliver Lucanus in a month or two. I might pick up a few more if I can get sizing right. I think they're still a bit too small to accurately sex, but I suspect they're both females: both have white edging on the caudal and dorsal. As of right now, only one is showing the pitch black body and red belly.

In tank pics are going to be tough, but I'll work on them after they settle in a bit more. They're pretty shy, but they also seem fairly inquisitive. When I've been sitting in front of the tank checking to make sure everything was okay, the one sitting at the front of the glass was just starring back at me. When I opened the lid before, one started to ascend the water column. I'll wait for tomorrow to try feeding them... hopefully, they'll accept fresh/frozen stuff right away.

They should accept pretty much anything right away. Main thing you will have problems with is pellets...aside from that its gonna be snapped up pronto....lol. Did you get them from Oliver? He has some NICE fish that I have been interested in several times...not to sure if its worth it though with all the importing and stuff....don't know much about it. Can yaz fill me in? By the way you describe them they do both sound like females..which i hope is not the case......would be tight if you got a pair!! :D

I'm not worried about them taking pellets or not. I'm setting up a ****-storm of worm cultures, and fresh seafood is pretty reasonable. If they'll take pellets... great. If not, no big loss. I have plenty of options.

I've been looking into importing, and it doesn't seem like it's going to be all that difficult. From what I gathered, a lot of the hassle can be cut out if you contact USF&W ahead of time, and give them a list of what you're importing. I'm not sure I'm going to do it, but I think so. I'll let you know more about the process as I do it.

I got them from www.sharkaquarium.com

If they're both females, it's an excuse to get more. :D I'm just happy they both seem okay and they're settling in nicely. I had to mess around with the tank because my motaguense was being a bit of a prick at times, but that will be resolved tomorrow. The only PVC I have is just a bit too small, and I couldn't find anyone at Home Depot who would cut down one of the big pieces of 2" PVC for me. But, I compromised and piled in some driftwood and rocks. They're both hanging out in there, until I come to the tank; then, they're both sitting on their pecs starring at me.

hey bud do you mind telling me what day you got those fish? i got an e-mail from sharkaquarium on weds. i was under the impression that he only had 2 left.

Sorry, driftwood. I bought the two remaining fish at Shark Aquarium. I don't know if he set any aside for you, but the first time I saw them (1.5-2 weeks ago) there were only two fish in the tank. He probably didn't expect them to sell in the store. Hopefully, George (at Shark) will be able to get some more in for you.

I had a pike, He would eat 6 or 7 feeders at a time. So many that tails would be sticking out of his mouth when he was still gobbling them down.
