Something for a little fun: We have all been to a fish store and maybe thought something was interestingly done or thought something was kind of dumb.
But in today's little discussion lets pretend its YOUR fish store.

What are things you would want? What would you stock? Product lines you would carry? Freshwater, saltwater or both?
Maybe a local store has something you really like and would copy... The sky's the limit here since its YOUR store!

I will start with this, In my fish store there would be a display tank where the fish were not for sale. Something unique that you dont see often, inspiration was Aquarium Co-Op with the giant Mbu puffer. But in my giant display tank, my dream fish, an Australian lungfish.

Tell us about your store...

Another thing about my store: Would not sell common pleco, Pacu, Red tail catfish or Silver Arowana as stocking items, would only special order for customers that knew what they were doing. Seen way to many of these fish over the years that people could not adequately house end up on line or at the stores where people are trying to get rid of.

Nano fish all the way. Plants aquascape products. Not carrying anything /selling that can go over a foot easily. Too many lackwits have said they will upgrade. Guess what. They never did and is rehoming them all of the time. I see this all of the time.
Very cool idea! Ive seen some awesome nano set ups that were just amazing. And the plus side is your store wouldn't have to be that large, lol

So far like everyone's lfs 😆 I would definitely have a large saltwater display at the entrance of the store Marbled Catshark's, Snowflake Moray, small Grouper specie. I would have all fish in area's of the world they are normally found at with image of continent or country.
I would supply mostly oddball species both freshwater and saltwater.

This aspect is more a pet peeve but would be something I would be thinking about in my store. A few of my local stores have used 55 gallon tanks for their tanks they sell fish out of. While its a great idea from the amount of space given to the fish, it does present challenges when catching the fish due to the height of the tank AND the stupid center brace that gets in the way of everything. In my store I would like use 40B that are open top with no braces. And while we are on it what is up with fish stores giving the employees these little 4" nets to catch the fish. lol. I would also provide real sized nets so they can catch fish quickly without stressing them out.
