There's an App so ppl can fraudulently choose "any" phone number to appear, for masking them on caller ID.
Any way around it, or to bust them? Someone has been using our landline number and the ppl they call, turn right around and call here to find out who pranked them.

but our landline number is "listed". If the ppl who are called do a reverse lookup, it will show our names, address etc.. It's bad enough just getting called by the ppl.

Ok, first go and edit your information so they can't get any info through the reverse lookup.

There are other options for stopping it, change your number, put a message on an answering machine explaining the prank, etc.

Personally, if it's a continuing issue then do a police report. It won't stop it but it will be an official record if something else happens.

If you need any help editing your personal info PM me and I will walk you through it, it's not that hard to do.

I don't even think that those apps are legal due to them constituting false impersonation as well as some other things.

Apps that simply block the phone number are fine, though, since they do not make the caller's number appear to be that of someone else.
I didn't think so either, but they're WIDELY available.

I reported it to my phone provider, was told my only option to hide reverse lookup is unlist my number, and that takes a whole year to go into affect bcuz new phone books just came out.
Don't want to change number, we've had it since 1987.
If there's really a way to delete our name & address from reverse lookups I'd like to know. sounds too good to be true!
These calls are not FUNNY pranks. the first one was angry & threatening a lady.
The latest one harassed a guys' wife for MONTHS. He called me thinking it came from our phone.
I had other calls saying "someone just called me from this number..", but didn't connect the dots until the latest guy called me.
