HOT Water
I have been reading up a little on these fish some on the forums and some on other sites and I was wandering if anyone keeps them with royal clown knifes and silver dollars,
I also read somware that they do not like to have a bright environment and only like sand as a substrain I have the opportunity to pick up at least 6 of these guys at 3-4 inch and was wondering if the will do well with that many in a 185gl tank .I will be upgrading to a custom tank that’s in the works as we speak that will be plenty big for most fish I will be keeping. I hear that they do not like there environment changed a lot is this true. some times it easy to read about it or ask the people how do it most and know a lot more then I do thanks in advance. and what do you guys consider the ideal water conditions. and pics of my tank

U mean 180L tank, the pic does not look like 180 gallon.
As a temp, 180 L. is ok, but only temp...
Silver dollars are excellent tiger tank mates.
But royal clown knife grows quick compared to dats, and can be aggressive when they get bigger. So I wouldn't.
My water is ph,8, nitrate 30-40. Temp 80,
make sure ugot loads of filtration & do wc once /week min. Hope u Browse forum for more info ... Good luck.

A 185 gal should be okay for awhile. I dont think substrate matters too much. I Kept mine in a choral type gravel, which keeps the pH well buffered on the high side. Dats definitely prefer darker lighting. Try keeping one end darker and you will see where they spend most of their time.
