It all started with Hitch hikers.... MTS and Ramshorns when i got my first plants and failed (horribly) with the plants this was years ago.
..About a 9 months ago Petmsart had a sale on Mystery snails..so i picked two up with only a little research., A pretty Ivory one and a pretty Blue one with hopes of having babies, a few months after getting them i noticed huge pits in there shells and they were being picked at by the guppies
.
So guppies upgrade to 20 gallon from a 10 and the snails go in to a breeder box...
i do some reading and add a large chunk of cuttle bone to the tank and started feeding them spinach and zukini the blue one didn't make it but the Ivory did and has thrived...i didn't take pics of them that way i thought they were both goners.
i now have 4 mystery snails in my 20 gallon guppy tank (first batch of eggs on the way)and 1 in my 40 gallon and 1 in my 20 convict tank and 2 nyrate snails. my obsession with snails is growing.
I wanted to show the Ivory snail that survived...the skin that was exposed calcified and has grown allot..she is also the one laying eggs^_^...and she is a mutant!!!!!
ok so here are some shots of her mutant face. and her laying eggs

ok..now here shell...how much it has grown and what the ershion had done. and how much she healed, when i got it to stop it was nearly all the way around her, the new fresh pretty shell is how much she had grown in a few months ^_^.

she is a very happy snail now..very very active and takes food out of my hand..i feed them allot now, they eat every thing ^_^ im in love with there cute faces...it was because of this mistake that i got other snails,
I have thought of covering the holes in her shell but no one picks at it and what is remaining is still rather strong.
Its amazing what proper diet does for these guys...and a little cuttle bone in the tank.

here are some good examples of what how the ramshorns are doing better as well

i added a peace of coral to the tank..it had been sitting on top of my tv for years..the snails are eating it.

My new blue one had an injury from the store, but is very active and seems to be healing , im amazed at how fast these guys grow.

and for the rest!!!^_^(gold one is a male...blue and black are unsexed so far)

Ill be getting more of these guys soon..about 4-5 more for my 40 gallon

anyway....i just wanted to share my addiction and my mistake
More to come....^_^
