While there is very little info on this species compared to most, I have read that many die at around the 6th month mark. I have one who is nearing that point, still quite small, but packing on the weight compared to months ago. Tank is in good shape, large enough and gets a lot of fresh water, good food...besides the obvious there, for those of you who have had good luck with them, did you do anything or those who did not, did you not do anything? He is a great looking fish in the making, extremely active and does well around the much larger cichlids in his tank. Cute little fella and I would obvioulsy want him to grow up big n bad..just would really stink to someday see he did not make it. Any tips on these guys would really be appreciated, and only from those who have actually had them, not rumors. I know that will really make the group of respondents lower, but those who have had them seen to really know what to do. Thanks

+1 on the above ......
I think you got your Pellegrini from the results of Sam's successful breeding of the wild pair......
Please let me know if you have any updates on this subject as I have 7 (2 inch F1 juvies) ..

Start sharing info: on this subject for future reference .

Right now I have the 7 Geo. Pelegrini's in a 125 gallon 6 footer... Temp 78 degrees.
Hard water , tons of minerals ..... high PH (probably too high at 8.0) and not tyring to change the PH ()
But my Winemilleri have spawned in these water conditions.(not going to do "RO Unit") .
Sand bottom , a few PVC pipes and a few flat rocks.
The Pelegrinis are in with a breeding group of 7 Red/Orange head Tapajos.
feeding Kens sinking pellets(crumbles), Hakari Excell mini sinking pellets,
Kens Veggie flake food and blackworms once a week.

What are your environment conditions for your Pellegrinis ?...
We may have an opportunity here as the fish are possibly / more than likely from the same parents,
providing a more controlled examination of this Geo.

BTW: If you remember where you saw info on the Geo. Pelegrini dying around 6 months
could you post those links on this thread ....

I have a group of 2" and 6 wild caught ones that are around 6" all mine are doing great I never read anything saying they die around 6months? My set-ups are just like all my other geos nothing diffrant. I would not worry about it just enjoy your fish.
