Are there any good LFS in the Fort Lauderdale/Miami area that are worth visiting while I'm done there this week.

Thanks, Josh

some good fish farms in the south dade area especially if you're into African cichlids

you should try out Big Al's in Tamarac(in the Ft.Laudy area), its more like a zoo of fishes than a fish store to me. They also carry the cheapest filters in the tri-county area because all the LFS have pretty high markups :naughty:

I'm still looking for one good one here in Tampa. I'm going to look tomorrow at a few I found online. Hopefully I find one.

Barrier Reef in Boca Raton. Prices are a little high but every now and then you can find some good stuff. Plus, if you are going from Ft.Lauderdale it isn't too far North and it is less than 5 minutes off the interstate (only 2 roads. Head East on Glades, then left on 2nd/Boca Raton Blvd.). If it's saltwater fish your looking for, there is a shop called JAWS right in Ft. Laudy on the left if you head East after getting off the interstate at the Broward exit. I don't remember what their freshwater selection looked like. Only went in a few times.

Check out Marine Warehouse... definitely worth a trip.

Barrier Reef is my LFS, and I agree that it's a good one, and not cheap . . . they have FW and SW, and they typically have a decent selection of cichlids (Americans and Africans) . . .

some of the best fish (if not the best prices) are the ones that they get in trade from customers; if they would only price them a little better, it would be ideal

another place I like is Fish's Paradise, in Hollywood; it's right off I-95 in Hallandale, so very convenient location . . . don't be fooled by the outside (just a box), it's chock full of great fish on the inside

There a LFS around the hollywood area a mom and pop shop thats been around for awhile...its called Beverly's pet center really good on prices they sell FW/SW and other crazy stuff.. but been going there for about 4 years now...

What are you looking for?

Nothing in particular but if I see something I like I might bring it home. I'm mostly into larger SA cichlids like Cichla, Crenicichla, Caquetaia, etc. Maybe some oddball cats. Heck I don't know what else. Just oddball SA fish I guess.
