is it always normal for a gator to outgrow floridas?when i bought the gator,it was only 4" and the florida was 8".now the florida is only 10" while the gator is a foot now.

no doubt about that..but what about the growth rate?do gator gars have a faster growth rate compared to floridas?...question re phrased.hehe!

yes, gators have a quicker growth rate than floridas, and yes, it is perfectly normal. gators grow at an extreme rate in their first year, and although floridas, or any species of gar for that matter, do as well, gators grow much much faster.

you could stunt its growth by feeding it less and keeping the water dirty. not advisable though.

based on your previous statements, do you really need to ask?

but yes, gator gars have much much quicker growth rates.

you should not be "controling" the growth rate of the fish. if you are unable to match it's requirements, then you should be looking for means of passing it to someone who can

When I got Gator Gars they were 4" and the Florida Gars were ~10". In a few months, the Florida Gars got to 13-14" and the Gators were 13" and 16" respectively.

So, yes! Gator Gars grow at a significantly faster rate than almost any other fish I know (including the fast growing Silver Aro and FL Gars).

As for "controlling the growth rate": There is no way to control the growth-rate of the internal organs. Any attempts at "controlling" this growth rate will only affect the body. This "stunted" gar will die very very soon.

Good luck,
Sid
