peace with u all,

hi guys. my first post here in arowanas thread. I got my first silver arowana. Communiting with a flo gar and 7 different polypterus. Looks awesome but having trouble getting my aro to eat. For each floating sticks and guppy feeders i throw in, my gar seem to get to them first. I do not wish my gar to overgrow faster than the rest... Any ideas or experiences to share?? Thanks

Tank size is 5ft x 2ft x 2.5ft

Be careful, my gar broke his back due to going for the same piece of food as my aro (the gar bigger than the aro). The combo can and does work for many people, but there can be problems.

how do you get food to your polys?

Feeding at night would be the best way I'd think.

did not work for me - equal sized gar went through a divider to get my silver aro. but it was a gator gar. do note that there are plenty of examples of gars co-existing with aros. good luck

I have a similar set up in my 180g. 13-14 in black aro with f/s gars (1x 12-13in and1x 15-16in) and about 11 polys (10-14in ornates laps endlis). No problem with the combo and they have been together for about 9 months. The aro is quicker than the gars, yours might just need to settle in a bit. All the fish in the tank eat pellets and every once in a while I'll feed the gars and aro market shrimp. I'm thinking of moving all of them to my 240g and adding a jurenese cat and marble cat that I have in with them.
