For those with DIY ponds..how are you fighting humidity?

mine is mostly sealed. I only am going to open it up when it's feeding time and for water changes. I use to have an open top 300 gal pond and had no moisture issues. :) Had it inside for 1.5 years with no issues.

I've been following your current build closely. I like the sealed lid aspect. Speaking of water changes...are you gonna perform weekly water changes on your bed/pond?

I have a 1200 gallon open tank, its not really a problem. I keep the room temp pretty close to the tank temp, less difference = less humidity. I also have a small dehumidifier + constant airflow through the room with a little fan mounted to blow air from the room outside.

I will be doing twice weekly changes same as my other tanks. Catfish produce enormous amounts of waste so best to keep the water as clean as possible. If this was my own place I would do a constant drip flow through system to keep the water perfect!!! BTW I have had the pond filled for 4 days now and I have to say I don't notice any extra moisture with the lid on. Using a 200 watt titanium heater and it's keeping the water 80 barely ever running. I did end up insulating the walls so that helps also. :) Stayed under 400 bucks for 400 gals.

Currenty have a 1700 intex in my basement with no problems. I bought a cover for it before i set it up and never even bothered to put it on. Humidity is not a problem. I do run a de-humidifier constantly into my sump pump just in case (i'm usually overflowing tanks/ponds on a weekly basis lol). Theres really no good brand of dehumidifier i've blown out 2 in the past 3 years....just keep your warranty hah i got one replaced for nothin. I also have 12mil. black plastic on my ceilings but it is not a must. It honestly looks better than the open wooden beams in my basement though.

i have an air exchanger and it is keeping my humidity at 43% and my dehumidifier never runs now....but in summer i have to make adjustments to the dehumidisat...

That build is incredible. I'm starting my build after the holidays.

Best thing for a fish room or an indoor pond in an enclosed area is an air exchanger. Brings fresh air in and takes the humid air out. Not cheap to buy, but they work.
