My landlord is going to be doing some renovations in the house, and after she's done I'm considering adopting another adult iguana (Lost my 10 year old boy last year from complications brought on by improper care from his previous owners). I'd like to see what some of your iguana enclosures look like. Can't go with anything longer than 7' or higher than 6' due to space issues. if you post pics I'd like to know the dimensions. Would like to go as natural looking as possible.

I don't have pics of mine yet sorry, I rely on other people to put them on the computer for me, plus we are still finishing the consrtuction of my iggys one. You really should do 8 ft at least by the length of the iguana wide and i think 6 high is ok. This is if your going to let your iguana free roam most of the day. Mines extremely aggressive but due to not having her new enclosure ready yet she still only actually goes in there to bask and poop. If you can't do this at least for one that is going to be out most of the day (let alone one kept in there for all but an hour or two a day) then you should probably pick another animal. We had huge problems getting a place to plan her new enclosure and although tis going to be pretty big, this is again, only going to be for her to bask, poop, and sleep in (and when we go out). Iguanas are very active if heated right. Sorry to say :(
I guess if its just gonna be for your guana to bask nd sleep in like mine, those dimentions will be fine:D

well, it's going in my reptile room which is closed off, but in no way "iguana proof" for all-day wandering. can't go any more than 7' wide because that's the width of the room, and the cieling is not even 7' high. The iguana I used to have got free roam of the room when I was home, but pretty much just slept and chilled out in the cage while I was working. At the time the cage dimensions were 5hX4lX3w... he only had about 1/3 of his tail left from his previous owners, and that cage was a HUGE size difference from the "Iguana Habitat" cage he came in.

OH, and heres a pic of him when I had him. He's checking out the Savannah monitor I was housing temporarily (the sav is now living with a friend who does educational classroom visits.). I really miss that guy, had a great temperment compared to alot of the iguanas I've met.

Oh and another one, he'd get to wander around the whole house for all afternoon, and a few times I'd go to get ready for bed to find a sleepy iguana on my pillow. I ended up putting a hammock pillow in his cage for him to sleep on instead of just the hard wood. All animals like having thier comfy spots.

Lovely monitor, did you say the iguana was male? Well if you won't be able to free roam your iguana, you won't be able to keep one in a 7lx6hxby say 3w

If you can, I mean for alot of the day, then thats great, get one. You said this iguana only had a third of his tail left..that makes a big difference. Your new iguana will grow to full size and out of this enclosure:)

Lovely pics btw
my iggy just falls asleep on my huge tiger teddies on my wardrobe lol.

Dude, does the monitor attack the iguana?

if you read the posts, then you'd know that I no longer have the monitor, and that ig in the pic is the old iguana that passed away last year.

I'm planning on adopting an adult iguana from the rescue near me (sorta, next state over). Alot of the ones they get in tend to have broken tails. There's one in particular I'm looking at, a female about 9 years old, missing about 1/2 her tail, but they say she's a real sweetheart. Dunno if she'll still be available once the project is done, but they've had her for quite a while now.

Well I dont personally think you should build one on the basis this iguana won't have a full tail, but thats up to you. For a full size iguana? Free roam all day except to bask, poop, posssibly eat and when you go out then sure. If not, it wouldnt be fair on the iguana IMO. But I have a feeling you will anyway? lol. You asked for information so thats the truth, it wouldn't be right to kid you! :)
good luck
