i doubt it's a gar. the shiny part makes me think it's a Ctenolucius hujeta. Also known as a hujeta gar, slantnose gar, or rocket gar. They are not a true gar, but a type of characin.

another possibility could be the needlefish (Xenentodon cancila). they seem to be mistaken for gar quite often. either way we need pics.

I know it wasn't a needle nose, I don't know what a rocket gar is. but anywho i just thought i would let anyone gar fans know who might be in the area bc a lot of people on here are from indiana

and yes... knowing that place it probably was 400 dollars LOL. dude tried to sell me a 100 dollar ornate...

it was probably just another mislabled gar...if it was even a gar.

that's what i would guess as well. i've never even heard of a "green" crocodile gar...and few fish stores these days know what a crocodile gar is anyway. given the creative names we see for gars in most LFS, it's probably just a greenish-patterned Florida/spotted.
