Forced intro?

I'm a little annoyed that I'm forced to introduce myself before I can start a new thread...Or get an avatar? So that's pretty dumb...
anyways...
Hi everyone!
I just want to edit my profile...
 
Is that the way it is now? My very first post was giving someone advice in one of the sub-forums.

But we do get alot of spammers that don't post anything but their junk(non fish related) in the main forums.

I could reply to posts, just not make my own. And apparently I have to have 5 posts before I'm aloud to access my profile (including pictures).
Not really sure how that prevents spammers, but whatever.
I joined for the content not the rules lol.

It doesn't stop all spammers but it cuts down a few...also makes them work harder.
 
Personally if I was a spammer I'd think it would be more efficient to just reply (which you can do without forced socializing) rather than starting my own thread. But I could be wrong, I've never tried.
