I forgot to turn my canister filter back on when I did a water change yesterday. :nilly:Luckily, I have a HOB that should carry the load until the canister is healthy again. I guess these are my questions:

If the filter was off for 24 hours or so, then the bacteria would be dead, correct?

Do "dead bacteria" pose a threat to the health of the tank?

Will the canister re-cycle faster or not?

Any suggestions?

I am going to do a little water change right away.

I don't think there will be a problem either. The reason I worried is that the fish are acting a bit shier than usual. The canister is on my 55.

Might have had a small ammonia/ nitrogen product spike; could stress them out. I don't think all of the BB would have died, but what did will repopulate extremely quickly.
