found an older 30 gal. tank in the garbage.. im pretty sure its 30 long... its longer than my 20 long tank but the same hieght.. its got 2 tops... one for fish with a perfecto light.. that flickers on and off when it wants to(seems old) and also has a reptile top... before i brought it in the house i filled it with water and it didnt have any leaks.. dont know if i should trust it with water..

any suggestions on what to do with it.. im also considering using it as a reptile tank.. the only thing keeping me from keeping it filled with water is that top black border is coming off on one side.... any suggestions? and if you think its ok for fish what should i stock it with?..

A 30L is 48X12x12 not a bad PU for free. Resealing the tanks fairly easy and if all you need to do is reattach the top frame then I wouldn't worry about using it for water. a quick shot of GE #1 silicone and your done. Might have to do some work on that light fixture. it either has a bad starter or dirty connections.

Use it..... Bleach it, let it sit, Rinse it three times! It has 2 tops and a reptile top? The tops would be a plus. Buy some new lights scape it and post some pics!

thanks for the advice!.. what do you think i should stock it with? i was thinking a grow out tank kinda want some schooling fish to be able to go in my tank with oscars and hampala barb (fish range from 6-8inches)but want to grow them out in the 30.. anything possible?

That sounds like a good use for it.

If it's a 30g long it would make for a pretty neat river community setup with some powerheads on one side. Put lots of river rocks in there and stock it accordingly. That's what I would do anyway. Nic epickup BTW, I need to search the trash more often.

its large garbage pick up day once a month around here ive been checking for the last year.. so im 1/12 on finding one... :grinno: ill take pics when i get it set up.. im going to buy a filter and heater tomarrow.. hopefully get to homedepot to get that glue and fix it up so i can start cycling it soon... (i had no intention of buying a new tank any time soon) so even though it was free.. this is gonna cause me to spend more and more money... but its all worth it:nilly: luckily i already had unused gravel for it... and i have a different light i decided to use isntead of replacing the other one for now..

Check my trash in the next week and youre gonna find 2-29gs and a 55g drilled. I have more tanks than space.
