Hey all, I just found a 1" tokay gecko in smother California, "in my grandmas back yard" I use to keep large ones, but never this small, any suggestions for keeping one this small? What to feed it? I found on another forum to feed spiders? Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

Crickets and baby Dubia roaches if there's a reptile shop in your area. At that size you'll want to feed it a few every night. Also make sure to dust them with calcium every other feeding and multivitamin once a week.

How did you find a tokay here in Cali? They're not from here at all. Its a good thing you found it though cuz there's no way that thing would survive one of our winters.

crickets maybe. depending on the size of its mouth. but spiders can also do the job. mealworms is also an option. can get it at local pet store or fish shop, cuz this is wht they usually feed arowanas and other carnivorous fish. :) well, good luck with it. post a pic of it if u can. :)
fyi, i also have these types of geckos, but the green eyed one. lots of them in my grandpa's hut. havent caught them yet. the young ones follow its mother everywhere. the parent is about 10inch long now. huhuh

I'm going to go out on limb and guess that it's some type of house gecko if it's that tiny. I use to breed Tokays and they're 3-4" long when newly hatched.

Either way, fruit flies and pinhead crickets are the way to go for feeding the little guy.

This is what I was thinking also.

x3, that's why I asked for a photo. Honestly, you are probably better off just letting it go.
