no clue how long its been there...and it was from a painted turtle.

yes but it was in the water

yea i figured it was dead but i would of felt like crap if i tossed it without checking first

It all depends on how long its been in the water...

I say incubate the eggs. There is always a chance that it can still hatch. It doesnt hurt to take a chance incubating them.

One time I got 15 diamondback terrapin eggs laid in the water. Stuck all of them in the incubator and crossed my fingers. I got 15 baby terrapins to hatch out of 15 eggs laid in the water.

Its also happened to me with other species of turtle.

I'd suggest incubate them if you want a shot at hatching out some babies.

Also, if its only one egg so far, she should be laying several more, so keep an eye out for more eggs.

I've incubated eggs that were dropped in the water for anywhere between 6-10 hours and still had them hatch. The biggest question is if they were Fertile to begin with.........

More importantly, give the poor girl a place to lay the rest of them! Just a pan full of soil that she can get to would be fine.

defently incubate. My first event as turt breeder was like 12 years ago with chinese softy eggs wich were all layed on the water and all hatched. It isnt allot of trobble and its worth the try
