im not sure if this is the right section so if a mod needs to move me feel free. i found a bug in my bichir tank tonight. i got a pic of it and i was wondering what it is and if it is potentially dangerous to my fish... or me (if its a larvae and it pupates and flys away into the house i would not like that... at all). to help clarify what your looking at in the pic, since it might be a little fuzzy- i dont have a good micro lens, its the thin vertical dark section in the middle. the tail at the bottom forks into what i think is three sections. its swims. it seems to have little wings on its back, it almost looks like a dragon fly but an underwater type... so i have a guess that its a dragon fly larvae. but that seem a little ridiculous- how would a dragon fly get in my house much less lay eggs in this tank. can anyone help me hear.

Looks like a damselfly nymph, they will eat small animals. They are similar to dragon fly but a lot smaller, I would say about 1/10 the size of a dragon fly.

No need to worry about that mate, your bichir's wil eat that as a light snack.
