Picked up a little 5 inch buettikoferi about two weeks ago. Put it in a 60 gal with a 5 inch electric blue jack Dempsey. I wanted both these guys to grow out. Looked today and didn't see the bichir in the tank, on closer examination i found it in my HOB filter. The entire top of the tank is sealed except for the entrance to the HOB. Stoked that it didn't get all the way out. So i pulled the HOB off. I also had two canisters running on the tank so i plenty of filtration for the stock.

This new bichir keeps charging the top of the glass like I've never seen. Its been doing it ever since i got it. It was even jumping in the bag like crazy. I've kept 7 different species of bichirs for about 2 years now and never seen one who is constantly ramming the lid.

I don't ever see the EBJD pick on it. But that's the only thing i could think of. I want to keep both but ill get rid of the EBJD if its the problem. I just don't want to get rid of it and still play this crazy game with the new poly.

Any suggestions? I have 5 pieces of driftwood and tons of plants, pluse a hollowed out log. So i have tons of places for it to hide. Is this typical for the buettikoferi species? I might have a nice size EBJD for sale soon.
