l went fishing today in a new spot l found and as l was fishing away l noticed this tree branch that had fallen into the water to the side of me. Must have been there for a while because the old bark just pealed off. So l pulled it out to find a massive pieces of wood. l broke a couple off but left most of it there as it was to large to carry the whole thing back (l think next time l go there l think l will bring a little saw with me to get some more):grinno:!!!!!! Do l have to soak these in freshwater before putting them in a tank because they were in saltwater or not?

youll want to boil them, or soak them in as hot as water as you can get for a few days, changing the water often

How I prepare my driftwood is I put the wood into a bucket, add aquarium salt, and boil a bunch of water, then pour the boiling water into the bucket containing the wood.

i don't know if its feasible with those huge pieces, but since it was in saltwater, I'd try and do a nice bleach bath to kill anything on it.

-1 on the leach bath, bleach or any chemicals for that matter can leach back into the aquarium, I say fill up the bath tub full of scalding hot water for days if you can, refreshing with hot tap and/or pour boiled water over the specimen.

A piece that big is awkward to clean. Pressure washing it with hot water heater water is a good substitute...
