Ok. i have had my oscars for several months and i jus tnoticed this. One has hudge nice lookin fins. And the other has small stubby ones...(i mean in gernal all fins r small and weird...) but they havent been bitted or anythin i havent noticed any fin nippin. and i feed them the same amount of food. Cld one have been from a different dealer? or mayb just be a runt with a defect...I wld give pics but ma camera is bad...:irked: any ideas?

a bad camera is better than nothing . . .

are you sure the other one isnt fighting with it and nipping all his fins? that would have been kind of a noticeable defect at the lfs, can you post a pic, that will give you some better answers. what are their water params?

I got them rlly small and didnt notice...but i have looked at all the fins and i mean all of them r small not just the side ones even his tail find and top fins r small. I think its somethhin with genes mayb

i mean dead camera by bad... it wont even turn on i put new batteries n tried everythin...

are the edges smooth or ragged? if the other O is being territorial or if you have a fin nipper in with them it could have eaten away at all his fins but if they are all smooth edged then yeah its prolly just genetics but as long as he seems to be eating and swimming fine he will be ok, things like this happen when fish are really common and so therefor bred (read inbred) at a massive scale

They r round and smooth so its probly genetics but the funny thing is the ones look gr8t! he swims fin sometimes havin problems but...there r no other tank mates no agression kinda depressed he spends alot of time on the bottom too

Hmm mayb mine r both tigers too! but the other is rlly lazy and the fins seam way to small to be fins for normal genetics in fish mayb the other just stole all his fins when they were lil eggs
