I found a 75 gallon with a stand and 2 Magnum 350 canisters for $100

1) Is that enough filtration? I'm incredibly broke because well, I don't have a job, so I won't be able to pay for like 4 more of the same canister.

2) What else would I need other than a heater and lights? I'm planning on having a green terror or maybe something else in there, so would I need to have anything special for it?

3) What's the best brand of all the equipment? I found some 12" lights with adjustable "thingies" that can extend 5" on each side for $10 each. I'm already using one and it's held up perfectly, plus my plants have grown faster in that tank than in any other tank.

4) Would the GT be okay with tank mates in a 75? I heard giant danios are good, but is there anything else that won't bully the GT and vice-versa?

as always, Thank You in advance!

Welcome aboard!

Don't know much about the canisters, I use an aquaclear 110 on my 70 and everything is perfect. The ones you mentioned seem to be more for mechanical filtration than biological so that must be kept in mind.

2) Filter, heater and lights is usually awesome. Just don't forget the décor :)

3) Got any names/links for the light? I know LED units are quite popular and some are more affordable nowadays

4) I think the single cichlid with something like danios or smaller catfish would be cool. You just don't want anything a GT will pick a fight with

1) Two magnum 350's should be fine for a 75.
2) All you really need are filter, heater, lights (for you- fish would be ok without lights as long as some direct or indirect sunlight during the day)
3) "best brand" is debatable. As far as lights go, I have had good success using the cheap amazon/ebay LED fixtures. Beamswork is an example of one of these brands, a 36" version would light your 75 nicely and should cost around 30$
4) That depends on your GT. I think some schoolers like larger Colombian tetras, as well as some catfish like pictus, would be nice, and would keep the tank south-American themed. You could possibly get away with some of the smaller SA cichlids, but that would open the possibility of conflict, wheras the Tetras and catfish are more or less guaranteed to be fine.

I'm too new to post a link but look this up on Ebay, that's surprisingly very good for the price:
AQUANEAT Aquarium Light Blue & White LED Marine FOWLR 12 20 24 30 36 Inch

I never thought pictus cats would end up bein able to go with a GT, but I was thinking, what would do better? I know they group up when small but when they're bigger they get territorial. would a 75 be good enough on space for 5 pictus?

also check my reply to someone else, are those the cheap lights?

I would go for 3 or 4 pictus, I kept 3 in a 90 gallon (same footprint) for quite a while and they worked fine.

I had one of those Aquaneat lights and it worked well for a few years until It fell in the tank and was completely soaked. I would say for the price they are a great value.

And I should mention that cichlids can be unpredictable, and it's possibly the GT will kill the pictus. But I have found GT to be pretty mellow and I think as long as the pictus were too large to be eaten they will most likely do okay.

Then lighting isn't that major. One or two LED floodlights would work well enough :)
