Purchased 4 of them on April 21st of 2014 as wild Peruvian Aequidens metae from the WetSpot at $10 each. They were mislabled and are Aequidens sp Janero Herrera. All four are probably between 5-7".
They are not perfect as they can be nippy with each other. One currently has a split in the anal fin, and one has a "bent" pectoral fin from conspecific aggression. I have not had issues with other cichlids, but they will eat small fish and plants.
I am not sure on the sexes. I haven't had them breed, but also haven't tried. I would say a minimum of two males, maybe more.
Pick up in Woodburn, Oregon. I can meet at the WetSpot in Portland with enough notice and planning. I have a 1 month old and a three year old and need to thin the tank a bit as I am not getting to water changes as often as I would like.
