I'm running a 120 gallon fowlr tank and need some help picking the right tankmates..My current stock is one Yellow tang, one Valentine puffer, and one maroon clownfish, they have been doing great but I've noticed my Yellow tang can be an ***hole sometimes to my other two fish and start biting fins during feeding or just trying to play around, but other than that they do great together and never see them fighting. I'm also in need of finding some good snails/crabs to help clean out my tank and take care of the algae, and I have been looking for a good chemical that can help restore or help mend my Valentine puffer's fins. I know this is alot to ask but whatever you guys recommend I'll make sure to try out and see how it goes + pics for who ever wants to see.

So are you looking for fish to somewhat spread the agression out? If so the simple answer from me would be getting a similar fish to the agressor....to add some color maybe a powder blue or powder brown tang. If money isn't an issue personally i love the achilles tangs. Liveaquaria says that if you feed it more variety of meaty and seaweed foods it will reduce the agression.

As for inverts, i'm not all too sure that you could house any with the puffer if i'm thinking of the right one. If it is the one i'm thinking of it would eat any and all crabs/snails in the home. The only option being some sort of urchin.

Inverts to clean you could use hermit crabs and maybe something like a pencil urchin. Urchins with thin spines could get eaten by the puffer. They can't remove pencil urchin spines. If your looking to curb the tangs aggression you could move your rocks around to break up any territories. If your adding fish then I would add a school of small fish like chromis, scissor gobies etc. At least five or six to use as dither fish. They could distract the tang.

I've read that yellow tang are just douche fish and tend to be aggressive in nature. For the puffer's fins no chemicals required they will grow back by themselves with good water conditions and if the tang leaves them alone. I agree with the suggestion to move the LR around to recreate the environment may help, taking out all the fish and putting the puffer back in first then the others may make the yellow tang calm down. How much LR do you got?

Goatfish have interesting behaviors in that they stir up the sand looking for food items. That will keep detritus from settling on your sand as much and also any algae that may decide to grow on the sand. As the fish get larger though it may keep the tank a little cloudy as they constantly sift and are very active. Could be used as a large dither fish though.
