Just got the male back in the New world tank about 2 months ago after he went pyscho cause of the last batch of fry.........woke up yesterday to find a dead wild GT and a tank painted with eggs yet again - this'll be the 4th batch this year. Screw it - had to go out and get another 150 gal tank to save what's left of my new world collection.
Heres the death toll -
1st eggs - 2 Female Red Terrors
2nd eggs - Texas, Red tiger Mota pair ARGHHHH!
3rd eggs - Salvini pair, 2 Firemouths - Momma Red Terror to the Hospital
4th eggs - Gold saum that ruled the tank
Last Cichlids standing - male firemouth, male salvini, and last but not least the Gold Jag - the main reason for spending yet another grand.
This particular species is really wierd - their calm like a bomb in a community setting then outta nowhere they breed and commence to slaughter - the only warning signs is thier relentless constructions of nests - that's all they do, maybe take 5 min. to watch you then back to the construction site.
Man do I LUV Red Terrors but they gotta be the most expensive species of fish I've ever kept.
