A friend of mine has a neon green toad stool in his sw setup. Any one know how to frag one of those, They said ur suppose to take off one of the neon green branches on the toadstool, but I dont think you can just cut it off.

Last I knew, the toadstools don't have branches. But basically yeah, just cut off a node, tie it to a rock, and it should grow. http://www.garf.org/ This site should tell you all you need to know about propagating corals. Hope that helps ;)

I've done many frags before and all you do is cut with a good pair of scissors or a razor blade, you want to make sure you get a frag that looks like a minature size of the main coral. Then take a toothpick and stick it through the stock of the frag, then take a small rock and some elastics, you have to then wrap the elastics around the toothpicks and the rock so that the bottom of the frag is touching the rock, then you just set it somewheres in the tank and leave it for a week or so or until it attaches to the rock.

Thanks for the info, and are zipties better to use??

I wouldn't use zipties if it were me. There is the risk of the plastics leaching something since im not familiar with what that particular plastic is made up of. If you could find out if they are harmfull or not go for it.

I have used zip's before and they were fine. I wouldn't recommend them though - not because of anything leaching, simply because they are restrictive, and a general pain in the *** to work with. You can use super glue, rock adhesive, etc. etc. Up to you what you chose, but it is really easy to frag and culture pretty much any coral. And there are several ways to do it, just depends on the size, health and species of coral for choosing the best technique.
