Hi All

First time poster.

I would like to make a 8` x 3` x 2` Frame-less plywood tank.

I have looked every where for a website were someone has made one but dont seem to be able to find any anywhere.

I was planning on using 25mm(1inch) thick would this be thick enough ?

Also i didnt want to waste plywood on the front so was going to make up a frame for the glass to attach and a frame up top for support and to hold the front from pushing out.

If anyone could point me in the direction of a good program to make up plans i can put some togeather to show use what im talking about.

Thanks

Why would you not want to add framing? You can always add more plywood on the outside of the framing.

Hi

It might sound stupid but i want to save time as i dont get much time of work.

So if i build it frameless i save time and effort not havin to build all the frame up first.
I will still be putting frame in the front for the glass to be attached and also up the top for support an for some where for the lids to sit on.

The fish I am looking at :
Murry cod
sleepy cod
bass
golden & silver perch
ell tail cat fish

Will also be putting in some yabbies and other little native fish hopefully breed so they have food and glass prawns.

Will make some plans and post them soon

I'd add corner and side braces inside the tank.

On the top (of the back sheet of ply) you could shape it, the brace, to help hold the front to back bracing, which will be required.

I also got prices on the wood and it work out a few hundred cheaper to buy 25mm plywood for the whole tank than 19mm plywood and all the frame wood i would need. so i wpuld be making a big saving going frameless too.

Check my build out. 800 Gallon Ply tank build in my sig.:) It is basically frame less except for internal corners. You will have to fiberglass it if you want it frame less to keep the strength. I have used 32mm ply for my build and it is bullet proof. I too am not a fan of framing but only because of looks.
