France!

I am going to France in a few weeks to visit some family for the first time and will have some time there to see some sites. I am going to be doing all of the normal touristy things like the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, etc. but I was wondering if the zoo there was any good and if there are any other sites I should check out. It is difficult to find any good info on the zoos there so maybe you guys could help out.

Love fish but am crazy about reptiles so anything along those lines would be awesome. Thanks!
 
go to paris all the time.. havent heard of any zoos.. whereabouts will you be in france? don't think they'll have any zoos in central...probably cos i've always been around paris... when you go there make sure you don't leave anything lying around because if you do and you take your eyes off it for a second it will be gone the next! they have so many muggers there and thiefs because thats the entry point for illegal immigrants to get into britain. i think i left my handbag next to me and it got taken about 3 different times before i learnt to keep it on my arm...!
 
going to be in Paris, Cannes, Reims, and Nice. so all over the place really.

all that I have been able to find on the net is that there are 2 zoos in Paris and both have over 1000 animals but everything they talk about is either a bird or a mammal. I cant find any good pics of them either.
 
dunno much about the zoos unfortunately i've only go there for shopping :D i guess if you have a plan before you go and when you get there its not so impressive as you thought it might be then at least you can improvise. main thing is to have a blast.
 
check out "Parc Floral de Paris" . they have a cool butterfly garden that is really cool if you like plants and insects . also "the catacombs " is really a trip if your not too claustrophobic and are into skeletons , skulls , and spooky stuff .
also the "pere lachaise " cemetery is cool . a bunch of famous people are buried there like jim morrison , chopin ... and a powerful holocaust memorial . i know thats not all
very zoo-esque but still cool touristy stuff to do in Paris .
also , if your into art , the Picasso museum is awesome , and so is the "Pompidou" modern art museum . the Louvre is a snooze in comparison ....
 
Cannes is an awesome lace from what I've seen. There is Zoo de la Barben, close to Avignon.
 
Not up on the northern part of France. If you plan to head south, let me know and I'll hook you up on a few nice places. I lived in La Reole, Capdenac, Figeac, and Bordeaux and spent alot of time along the coasts and in the Mountains in those areas. Even spent a whole summer camping out on the Med. in Marseille, in a 3 room tent on the beach.

I will be a bit west of that area but will be in the southern part of france in Nice and Cannes.
