Hello MFK,

My 10" jardini arowana's fins are split and frayed. To be more specific its his bottom fin and his tail fin. I dont think its fin rot since the fin isn't rotting away. Its just simply frayed and split. Its been this way for about 3-4 days. The water parameters are fine and the temperature is about 81 degrees. I did use salt the past 2 days but it hasnt gotten better or worse. The cause is because i have two other cichlids and they were nipping at him the first day i put him in. I dont think they nip at him anymore. Anyway, what else should i try?

Thank you

All you can do is watch to make sure the cichlids aren't nipping at him. Do you have any decorations or anything in the tank that he might be scraping against?

i have no decorations at all. i removed the flowerhorn about a week ago. my flowerhorns fins healed right up within two days but my jardinis fins arent getting better. i did a few water changes within a week and added salt and kept the temperature at 80-82 but it still isnt getting better. the water parameters are fine...idk what else to try beside buying melafix. any other suggestions?

Isolate the jardini. If the other fish are still chasing it will take much longer for the fins to heal, that is if they even do heal.
