Freaking out

Why does arowana(silver im reffering here) freaks out when i get closer to the tank? he just jump around n tryn to hurt itself

They are very shy Easily startled by sudden movements or movements period.

Its their basic instinct.

i hate that about my silver. as many times as i go up to the tank a day he always gets crazy. i've personally seen him up out the tank 3 times.

my silver was very jittery when i first got him, but once he settled in, he's mellow and very easy-going. I walk by the tank and he's suddenly swimming back and forth waiting to be fed. give it a little time. he might settle down and stop the anxious behavior. it took my silver about 2 months to settle in a start to relax.

mine was like that...now i have to move it to see what i am cleaning in the tank...

spend time in front of tank as well.

my aro went from scared and jumpy to hand feeding in 1 month.
