Hey, just wondering what size my freddies should start showing their colour?
I have a male... Well I had two males (initially thought one was female) for a while and swapped one of them at the fish store they came from for a female. My male is about 4 - 4 1/2 inches long and he is almost white with dark markings... When he gets around the female he gets darker spots and more of them but no yellow. The female is probably only 2 - 2 1/2 nches but when I first put her in she was slightly yellow (now much less)... They currently share the tank with a pleco and convict (thought I got rid of all of them)!! Is it my water or will they colour up soon?
Thanks

should be coloring up now or soon. I think it's the white wall back ground. He might just be trying t blend in with his environment because he's not all adapted and territorial yet. Maybe.
Try blue back ground and let the fish adapt.

i agree,a darker background will help.how long have they been in the tank? tank and filter is mature? do they have places to hide, eat ok,vary the diet, check your temperature and for other possible stress that might stop them from getting acclimated

He has been in the tank for around 3 months now and the tank has been running for around 5-6 months...

yeah man need a background. And throw some more decors in like plants rock or wood. Make it comfortable for the fish.

good running filter and air? water temp is not cold?

Ok, blue background done...I will also get some more wood and rocks.. their tank us pretty scarce compared to my Africans....
