So I drove an hour into a blizzard in Idaho to 'rescue' some fish and tanks.. I was SUPPOSED to get a 120g, 72gBow, 40g.. Ended up the 120g was actually a 90g with a 30" Pacu in it, and they wanted to keep it. 40g is actually a 29g, came with a free half-dead Oscar. Let's just say, these weren't high class people. The tanks were trashed, and alot of stuff was missing or broken.

The only thing that made the trip worth while was this 72g Bowfront I scavanged. It is my new "Restoration" Project. Much like those who restore old cars, I am going to make this tank something special.

I plan to bump this thread and keep it updated with pix and plans..

It is eventually going to be a 72g Dwarf Lionfish tank, with a 29g sump.

Here is a pix of the full set-up.. but wait, it gets better!

Upon closer inspection..:jaw:

Anyways.. The door does not shut. I will have to replace the base, warp it into place, or shave it down. Not sure yet. Going to remove alot of the inside, and lay some nice baseboards. Replace the damaged areas, and spray it all down with water-proof epoxy based paint.

29g Sump is going in here. Going to house a veggie filter for nitrate control, and a big skimmer.

and a sad attempt at a home-made overflow box..

Going to take this out and make a nice black acrylic box..

Notice the professional silicone job.

Wow at least your restore project 72 bow has the back galss panel :D

My plan is to mask off the entire tank and stand, except for the glass portions, and spray it down with this stuff. Background included.

I am going to get a custom glass lid cut, and probably install dual 2x54w T5's..

I am going to try to mimic my old Lionfish tank a bit..

thinner layer of substrate this time.. Only dwarf fuzzy lionfish.. I am thinking 3-6 of them, depends on what the bio-load can handle. Species only tank, I want to breed them.

look at those nice undergravel filters lol...
I dont think I could let my tanks go to such crap condition if I tried.
Im sure you will get the bowfront to look nice once again though, you look to know exactly what your doing, glad your bumping this thread, looking forward to updates.
