Saw this guy in a bucket at my lfs and he told me o could have him. He's a little beat up but free is free and he's pretty cool. Anyone know what he is

That late actually a good grade flowerhorn. It looks like a Thai KML and a pretty good one at that. It has niceflowerline and pearling across the head. It also has what looks like a good head although it is down. Get him healed up and please keep us updated!

He was only in a 10 gallon he now has a 55 and looks totally different will add pics later today
I know it's a ZZ for sure due to its red eyes and a Kamfa mix a KML like someone else suggested.

Kamfa can have red eyes. They are just known to have white/yellow eyes. Kamfa with red eyes are less desirable... But known to be more fertile. All others are red eye based.
