Hi Guys,
I don't know if many people saw my previous post, but I am trying to find my Giant Gourami a new home. Yes, he is a true giant. "Pink" isn't an albino species, but he is pink with yellow/black eyes so he isn't the typical grey looking one, albino, or the red tailed ones. I haven't found tons of pictures of his kind out there. He doesn't have a lumpy looking face yet (maybe he's still too young). I paid about $25.00 for him when he was maybe 4 inches and I bought him in Rochester, MN. He is now about 12 inches and just under 2lbs (very thick). He's probably about 2 years old. He has very nice perfect looking fins and is very very healthy. I feed him cichlid pellets, tubifex worms, some kind of dried shrimp reptile food and he will eat bananas and lettuce and I've even fed him animal crackers. I just keep him in regular tap water with a pH of about 8 and very hard and very alkaline.
I live in La Crosse, WI but am willing to deliver him or meet someone somewhere in Iowa, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, it really depends on how far or if you'd like to come pick him up yourself. I'm not asking any money for him as I just want him to find a good home in at least 100 gallons as that's what he deserves. I wouldn't mail him out as he just seems tooooo big for mailing. He's been moved several times and travels very well but my car does get soaked
I do have my own 100, 55, 40, 37, and 29 gallon tanks. Pink is by himself in a 40 as he's been aggressive and killed one of my bigger prized cichlids (a huge demon eartheater). The 40 gallon breeder was the best I could afford as it's big enough for him to be somewhat comfortable, but extremely bored in. I got kind of selfish and filled the 100 with african cichlids.
I love my Pink to pieces he is just awesome! He eats right out of your hand and will charge at the glass when you get your face close to him. I bought him because I wanted to own a giant fish, I just didn't think he would be as agressive or grow so fast. I am a poor college student and live in an apartment with three female roomates and needless to say we are maxed out with my tanks. I'm not going to just dump him off somewhere. I would prefer him to go in at least 100 gallons as that's what he deserves. Let me know what you guys think or if you have any suggestions. I just can't bear him sitting in 40 being bored all the time. It's like living in your bedroom with NOTHING to do!
