:irked: I have a Red Eared slider that we found in our swimming pool skimmer basket about a year ago. He is about 5 inches long on his shell now. I have been keeping him in a 50g. The problem that my husband has is with the sound of the filters splashing water into the tank. I have the tank in my den and have two 30-60 HOB filters running and it makes alot of noise. I personally love the sound of trickling water but it bothers him. The den is only 10 feet from our bedroom and he says it keeps him from sleeping good. I would move the tank into another room but I just don't have another spot for it since I just got another 50g for my cichlids. If anyone wants a nice turtle FREE let me know. He swims up to the side of the tank everytime I go into the room. I hate to get rid of him but I must keep the peace.

Ahhhh! Theres gotta be a quieter way of making that tank!

Does it have a cover? Different filtration perhaps? Switch your other tank with the turtle tank location?

ah wait!! haha

Try getting one or two maybe even three of the submersible in-tank filters that Tetra makes. I know they're not as nice as HOB's but they're much quieter, like a HOB with a full water level. Tetra makes an In-Tank Filter for up to 40g, you could run two of those, or Eheim makes the aquaball which comes in a size rated for up to 50g. Neither of those are more than $40 on Petsmart's website. They will definitely cut down on the water noise !!

Got a solution for you...in that size tank, get yourself a Fluval 404/405 and have the return underwater - problem solved. Really any cansiter would do, but I know for a fact the Fluvals work that way because that's what I've used.

in tank filter....

Well I had considered the canister filter. I know it will cut down on the noise. I can't even hear my Fx5 running. I guess I will start pricing canisters. Thanks everyone for the tips. I'll check into that cascade 600 also.

Lol, I've considered it but he has been real good about me getting all these fish tanks. Lol

Try a Fluval 4 internal filter they pump 280gph and are silent when submerged and areates well when near the top. A friend has 3 turtles in a 75gal and that is what he uses.
