Well, I hate to do this ( ) but I need to find homes for my 2 Oscars. I am moving soon and do not have a way to set up a new tank to move them into. They are currently in a 125g tank

1 is a 9"+ male, and the other is a 7" female. The male is definitely a Tiger Oscar. The female was advertised as a Tiger Oscar when I bought her as a juvi but the older she gets the more I think she might be a common Oscar. She has a beautiful dark base. I really really hate to give these fish up.

As far as the male, I got him a few months ago with gill erosion and fin rott. He was in a 75 gallon with a 16" Black Piranha with a single HOB filter. Since he has been in my tank, he has recovered nicely but still has a bit to go. The gill erosion is filling, and his color is improving

The two Oscars get along great, It was rough in the beginning but they have worked it out, Now they constantly swim beside each other. Most of the time the male is on the top and the female is on the bottom. I would be willing to bet they breed.

Im not asking for money because I want them to go to a good home. Preferably a 6 foot tank with limited tank mates. I think they will probably be breeders and Im sure they will be rough on other fish.

I will post some pics when I get a chance

Hey
They sound like great fish. If I had the tankspace I would definitely take 'em in. Just so you know, Oscars cannot be sexed except for viewing their genitals which are typically only visible during breeding. I am curious how you determined their sex.
I think one or two of the Maryland guys will snap these up in no time!

Thanks, like I said I hate to get rid of them

As far as the sex, I learned how to make the best estimate through www.oscarfish.com, The site is going through some changes, otherwise I would post up the article

Basically the way to unofficially tell is to vent the Oscar (Eithier grab it and flip it upside down, or find a way to look at its underbelly) Male oscars have 2 matching holes (1 is the anal, the other is the genitals) Females have 1 small hole and 1 larger hole. The method is not scientific so I could be wrong but the method is pretty solid, and I believe I have it. I could be wrong but I really dont think I am

These are great fish, I really need to find a home for them soon, I even have a 6" pleco that can go with them

i'll pay shipping if you want to look into it. i've got a 240 that they would probably enjoy living in.
