I built this last fall and it's been doing great. Have been meaning to share some pics. I didn't want to have to mount it to the wall, so I did my best to make it strong and sturdy. It's 40 inches long, 18 inches deep and around five feet tall. (Not sure why the pics are showing up sideways. They aren't on my computer.) Anyway, hope this idea was helpful to someone wanting to do something similar.

With two 30 gallon longs. I now have a 20 long on the top shelf. Designed it for three 30s, but my ceiling actually was a little too low to allow comfortable access.
