My BGGG dempsey pair laid eggs again. This is the 3rd time. Fry just became free swimming. When eggs were laid I noticed some had fungus on them. There seems to be only about 100 fry.I intend on leaving the fry with the parents for at least 1 month or when they lay eggs again, which ever comes first(every time I take the fry away from the parents none survive). Can I just continue feeding the parents(veggie flakes, cichlid crisps, cichlid sticks, and 2 times a week frozen blood worms and frozen brine shrimp)and they will feed the fry?Or is live Baby Brine Shrimp a must?

As far as feeding fry I also use pulverized flake food.

I pull the pot as soon as the females done laying. Put it in a 10 gallon Aquarium along with tank water from the parents tank. Also with an air stone tickeling the eggs and a seasoned sponge filter. I use Methylene Blue in the water at and keep the tank at 82 degrees. Eggs hatch at 3 days and free swimming 4 days after hatching. I feed nothing but fresh hatched Brine Shrimp 5-6 times a day after free swimming. Have had good luck with this system. All except on batch where I lost 25% due to Hydra outbreak. I start feeding crushed flakes at 4 weeks old along with the Brine Shrimp. Daily Vacumning and 40% water changes in the fry tanks. This is very labor intensive so if you dont have the time I would leave the female raise them and suppliment there feed with Fresh Hatched Brine Shrimp. I really believe that the Brine Shrimp is the key to keeping your fry alive and well....Hope this helps.......dgarrett

Is decapsulated brine shrimp ok?Or nothing beats live Baby Brine Shrimp? And Should I remove the male and just let the female raise fry?

live Baby Brine Shrimp

I have'nt tried the Decapped Shrimp. Just the fresh hatched Brine Shrimp. The fry really thrive on it. Also a bare bottom tank is really good when feeding any of the small foods as it does'nt get lost in the gravels.....dgarrett

Hatching BBS. not to easy not so hard. its all about timing. if i have to feed fry 2-4 times a day thats alot of bbs. how do you keep up with them eating so much and do you rinse thebbs off. i dont i just stick it in the tank. any tips?

Hikari first bites & 100-200 micron golden pearls! I swear by the combo for even the smallest fry
