i was wandering how i could ensure that my oscar that i need to let go of will go to a good home. i have too many and unfortunatly i need to get rid of at least one of them. i obviously can sell him to a lfs, but i really dont want him to end up in a small tank. im willing to give him away to someone who will take good care of him and provide plenty of room for him. has anyone ever had the same situation and what would be the best way to go about this. any advice would help thanx. :)

i think MFK is a great place to start looking for a good home for any monster. if you were closer to me i would come get him myself, i have a 250 with 2 oscars in it already. anyone here willing to take him would likely be a good place for him.and i would much rather see a fellow MFK member take him in than a LFS. good luck

so far ive seen only one member who lives in the same town as me, i was thinking about putting an ad in the classifieds, but how can i ensure the tank size and care will be given, btw he is Spike in my gallery. he is actually very rddish/bronze color. the pic did his beauty no justice. also he loves attention and to be petted. beautiful looking o imo... :)

LOL i thought i was the only crazy person, i pet my fish too  my oscars and my angels love it, i also have a 4 inch arowana that is kinda skiddish, i'm working on being able to pet him too before he gets too big

I would check out the fishtanks at your local high schools and museums. That way you can tell what kind of care is being taken of your fish. When I was in school we received as a donation one albino and one black oscar (full size) one medium common pleco, and a $hitload of tilapia eggs. Also, we regularly get donations of fish etc. at the museum, although most commonly snakes. Do you have any idea how expensive a gaboon viper is?!

When I had to get rid of my clown knifes they went to the lfs. Im prepared to burn in hell for that. Anyways they were aquired by a local business (pizza parlor) and put in a very large tank. I'm sure there are alot of businesses that have tanks set up in offices or wherever. Just a thought, then you would be able to see how its doing.

thanks for all the great ideas. never even thought of oscarfish. com.. i would just need to find someone that lives within the vegas valley.with a 2million pop. that really shouldnt be that hard. after spending the day cleaning my tanks yeserday i was really thinking alot about my decision and im starting to lean tword just getting a bigger tank.. well i already was, but that is becouse i want to keep an aro and maybe a redtail cat and some p bass. so many decisions to make, damn.. :(
