So I was at my lfs getting some supplies and I hear someone taking to one of the sales people about catfish and being new to the hobby. Well I guess he bought a 55g tank a few months back and got a catfish for it along with other fish. Well come to find out this catfish was a tiger shovel nose. So long story short I fill him in about the size potential of these fish and low and behold it is now mine for nothing. So it's in my 29g now for the quarantine period and to grow a tad cause it will get eaten in my 220. Sucks that it will outgrow my 220 in a year or two but I've always wanted one and couldn't pass it up. It just ate some krill. Really looking for a 350g to keep this and a few other of my fish in for awhile.

tank looks awesome for being so fishless lol

Thanks it's only been running a few months. It's my newer quarantine tank, I went up from my 20H to this. I keep the cycled with a pair of angelfish and when I need to quarantine something I just move the angels to the 55g for the time being.

Instead of buying a new tank why not build your own? You could make it much larger for the same amount of money you were gonna spend on the 350, you might even be able to hit 1k gallons. Don’t quote me though.

20 foot long fish tank.... lots of options....

Need some first hand experience with growth rate on this. I've read 1 to 2 inches a month or it will hit 12 inches really fast.
