Freeze Dried Krill for Pikes

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
My Xingu I takes food from all over the tank. I soak the krill to soften it up. I also feed frozen blood worms, beef heart, chicken hearts frozen squid and smelt along with many different prepared foods like food sticks and my pike even eats flakes.

He's eaten Tetracichlid cichlid flakes and tetra fin goldfish flakes. It took a while before he would eat anything other than rosies. I starved him a few days (like almost 2 weeks) and he started taking frozen foods, a few more days and pellets and food sticks, the flakes were a complete surprise i never expected him to touch them. But as I have been told they are greedy. Now he takes pretty much anything he can get into his mouth.:D

DEFINATELY squeeze the krill a couple of times to get the air bubbles out of it till it gets water logged. That extra air in the krill can cause problems, so its best to allow it to soak a few minutes anyway. It helps if you soak it with food they already eat too, cuz then it will smell and taste like the food they already like and it will be easier to get them on it. Like CS said, pikes are greedy mo fos and will eat just about anything that hits the water...literally...so be careful what you drop in there! Haha
