I'm pretty sure all of the leporinus species are considered "fin nippers"

darn is there a way to get them to not finnip as much cuz i wouldnt want one attacking my payaras and my payaras possibly biteing back

buy a small 1 (fasciatus, friderici, agassizi). it will get intimidated by the other larger ones, and consequently know its place in the aquarium from the start.

No, they are all fin nippers, but you could try a octofascitus (9 inches) which are a bit more peaceful.
