Hello all. I was wondering how often you all move around the decor with your tanks and to what degree. I'm also wondering if rearranging a tank to often is detrimental in any way to the fish within it. I personally completely rescale my tanks roughly every two week or so. I've never noticed my cichlids act any differently due to this but would like to hear from others and their experiences.

Makes a difference what type of fish you're talking about. Might be helpful in some cases where you're having aggression issues, other fish may not care one way or another, but with some you might simply be causing unnecessary stress.

But, me personally, I normally might do some tweaking or changing in decor until I get what I want and like. After that I leave it alone, at least until I'm ready for a change.

If you consider rearranging the rock a change in decor, then I do it in every water change as I have to move the rock to siphon off the dirt underneath. Since I cannot duplicate the same set up in every rock pile rearrangement, my decor changes frequently though within the same general scheme.

For the most part I live my decor alone and only move it after several months and I am bored with it, there is aggression in the tanks, and/or I am adding new fish and I want to avoid too much territorial behavior.

I move it around when I get bored of looking at the same scape. After I do though my loaches disappear cuz they are having turf scraps. I used to do it more often when one of my fish would claim too big of a territory.
